MSNBC host Chris Hayes trolled President Trump’s false claim that he has brought the “Merry Christmas” tradition back to the White House this year by airing a compilation of clips that show former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, wishing the country “Merry Christmas” while he was in office.
“As we approach the end of the year we got to thinking, ‘Did Donald Trump really bring Christmas Back to the White House?’” said the “All In with Chris Hayes” host before rolling the montage which showed the dozens of occasions that the Obamas publicly said “Merry Christmas.”
Trump has repeatedly pledged that the U.S. will celebrate Christmas by saying “‘Merry Christmas’ again.”
“You go to the department stores and you see ‘happy New Year,’ and you see red, and you see snow, and you see all these things. You don’t see ‘merry Christmas’ anymore,” Trump said during a tax cut speech in Missouri on Wednesday afternoon.
“With Trump as your president, we are going to be celebrating ‘merry Christmas’ again, and it’s going to be done with a big, beautiful tax cut,” he added.
Donald Trump is claiming victory in the War on Christmas, saying he brought “Merry Christmas” back to the White House. We found plenty of evidence proving him wrong… #inners pic.twitter.com/fGBSbYybvx
