Mississippi GOP Senator Caught On Hot Mic Calling Teen Senate Pages ‘Beautiful Girls’ During Vote To End Shutdown
As the Senate prepared to pass a short term spending bill that would end the 3-day government shutdown on Monday, a Mississippi Republican was caught on a hot mic gushing about the appearances of high-school aged Senate pages.
“I thought you were going to say this was one of the most beautiful girls. What about these others?” GOP Sen. Roger Wicker told his colleagues.
A C-SPAN video recording shows the 66-year-old gesturing towards a group of female pages in the room as he made the remarks.

As the NY Daily News notes, Senate pages are typically high school juniors who spend one semester out of the year interning in the halls of Congress.
Wicker’s office did not immediately return a request for comment from the Daily News.
