‘Light ‘Em Up!’: National Guard Filmed Firing On Minneapolis Residents Sitting On Front Porch

A disturbing video posted to social media appears to show members of the National Guard in Minneapolis shooting paint canisters at residents sitting on their front porch as a curfew was enforced throughout the city, reports NBC News.

A video posted on Twitter on Saturday night appears to show the Minnesota National Guard and state police ordering the residents of one street to go inside, before they turn their weapons on a group of residents.

The footage captures people frantically rushing inside the property after shots are fired and shows at least one resident who was hit by a paintball.

Armed officers can be heard shouting “light ‘em up” before the shots start.

At around the time of the shooting on Saturday, an 8 p.m. curfew was implemented in Minneapolis, the city where protests started after the death of George Floyd on 25 May.

The video has sparked outrage on social media, calling into question why police would provoke residents by firing on them while they stood on their own property.
