In Late-Night Rant, Trump Claims ‘Tech Companies’ Manipulated ’15 Million’ Votes For Clinton

President Trump doubled down on his false claim that tech companies “manipulated” votes in the 2016 election that would have given him an even greater lead over his opponent and that the company “should be sued.”

In a wide-ranging press gaggle before departing for the G7 in France, Trump late Friday told reporters that “somebody came in the other day” and told him that tech companies had cost him between 2.6 to 15 million votes because they are “very much opposed to Republicans.”

Trump said:

“I don’t like what France did, they put a technology tax on our tech companies. And it’s not that I’m the biggest fan of the text companies, the tech companies because you know they were very much opposed to the Republicans. and they are very much opposed. Somebody came in the other day, said the election that we had in 16 with Hillary Clinton that it could have cost me anywhere from 2,600, from two-million-six-hundred-thousand votes to I think he went up to close to either ten or maybe even 15 million votes. So I’m not a big fan of the tech companies, but I don’t want foreign companies, and foreign countries – I don’t want them doing anything having to do with taxing unfairly our companies. Those are great American companies. And frankly, I don’t want France going out and taxing our companies. It’s very unfair. And if they do that, we’ll be taxing their wine or doing something else. We’ll be taxing their wine like they’ve never seen before. I don’t like it. That’s for us to tax them. It’s not for France to tax them. Other than that I have a very good relationship with. you know Macron.”

Trump on Monday tweeted: “Wow, Report Just Out! Google manipulated from 2.6 million to 16 million votes for Hillary Clinton in 2016 Election! This was put out by a Clinton supporter, not a Trump Supporter! Google should be sued. My victory was even bigger than thought! @JudicialWatch.”

Clinton later responded to Trump’s “fake news” tweet:
