Republican Rep. Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma told a Democratic member of Congress to “shut up” during a heated exchange Wednesday over the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Republicans newed efforts to completely gut the ACA without a replacement.
Mullin got into an argument with New Mexico Rep. Ben Ray Lujan during a meeting of the House Energy and Commerce health subcommittee, reports Politico.
Mullin, who owns Mullin Plumbing, said his employees complain that the so-called Obamacare coverage “sucks” and doesn’t “cover anything.”
“Their biggest complaint that they have about ACA is that their coverage sucks,” Mullin said. “It doesn’t cover anything. Their premiums are off the chart, because it does nothing. You want to talk about ACA prices? Let’s do something about it.”
Lujan then asked, “Gentleman yield?”
No, if I did I would’ve already told you. You already had your time to talk, Mullin fired back.
“Mr. Chairman, he mentioned my name. I was hoping the gentleman would yield,” Lujan addressed the chairman of the committee.
“I said I wasn’t going to yield, you can shut up now,” Mullin said, as the audience in the room gasped.

Mullin has so far refused to apologize.
