Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, told Fox Business that if he were Donald Trump Jr.’s lawyer, Graham would advise him to ignore the subpoena from the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee to testify again.
“If I were Donald Trump Jr.’s lawyer, I would tell him, ‘You don’t need to go back into this environment anymore,’” Graham said in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on Sunday. “‘You’ve been there for hours and hours and nothing being alleged here changes the outcome of the Mueller investigation.’ I would call it a day.”
Last week, the Senate Intelligence Committee subpoenaed Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, to answer more questions about his contacts with Russia.
The Committee is seeking to question Trump Jr. about congressional testimony he gave in September 2017 about a plan to build a Trump Tower in Moscow — testimony that was later contradicted by former Trump attorney Michael Cohen.
Trump Jr. has reportedly resisted the subpoena and may invoke his Fifth Amendment right to refuse to answer questions.
“Anything based on what Michael Cohen said is worthless testimony,” Graham said. “Michael Cohen is a worthless witness.”
