GOP Sen. Johnson Comes Out Against Republican Tax Plan: ‘If They Can Pass It Without Me, Let Them’

GOP Sen. Ron Johnson (Wis.) on Wednesday became the first Republican senator to declare his opposition to his own party’s tax bill, saying “If they can pass it without me, let them.”

“If they can pass it without me, let them,” Johnson told The Wall Street Journal. “I’m not going to vote for this tax package.”

With a 52-seat majority, Republicans can only afford to lose two GOP senators and still let Vice President Pence break a tie to pass their tax plan.
