GOP Rep: Trump’s Attacks On Sessions For Failing To Investigate ‘Clinton Crimes’ Is ‘Beneath’ Any Held Office

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) on Tuesday ripped President Trump’s public attacks on Attorney General Jeff Sessions, calling them “beneath the office” not only of the president but of any elected official.

“Mr. President, maybe just try a meeting? This is beneath the office — of any held office — from city councilman to POTUS,” Kinzinger tweeted.

In a series of early morning tweets, President Trump escalated his all-out war against his own attorney general and accused acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe of being bought by Hillary Clinton.

Trump said Sessions “has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes.”

“Attorney General Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!” he tweeted.

Trump also attacked McCabe, tweeting, “Problem is that the acting head of the FBI & the person in charge of the Hillary investigation, Andrew McCabe, got $700,000 from H for wife!”

The president also asked why there is no investigation into “Ukrainian efforts to sabotage Trump campaign.”

Trump on Monday attacked Sessions on Twitter, calling him “beleaguered,” and in an interview last week with The New York Times, he expressed anger and frustration at Sessions for recusing himself from the Justice Department’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

He told the Times that Sessions’s decision to recuse himself was “unfair” to him and that he would’ve likely picked another person to lead the Justice Department if he had known Sessions would recuse himself.
