Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt incorrectly said Thursday that the U.S. defeated “communist Japan” in World War II.
“We defeated communist Japan,” Earhardt said as she responded to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) saying America “was never that great” a day prior.
Japan has never been communist, and in fact, fought against communists in China during the war. It was also under imperial rule during World War II.
Earhardt said on “Fox & Friends” that “we ask our men and our women to go overseas to fight for our country and sacrifice so much for this great country so we can be the land of the free. The land of the brave.”
“We’re the most generous country in all of the world,” she said. “Yes, we have our faults, but because of this country, this world is definitely a better place. We are great.”

“Fox & Friends” co-host Steve Doocy appeared to correct Earhardt by saying that the U.S. has defeated “communism and Japan and so many other things as well.”
