Fox News has pulled its Saturday episode of conservative commentator Jeanine Pirro’s program as the “Justice with Jeanine” continues to face backlash over her anti-Muslim remarks about Rep. Ilhan Omar.
Fox News has decided to air a repeat episode of a documentary series in place of Jeanine’s program, according to Variety.
A spokesperson for the network wouldn’t discuss future scheduling plans when contacted.
“We’re not commenting on internal scheduling matters,” a network spokesperson wrote in an email.
During an episode last Saturday, Pirro questioned whether Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn.) hijab was “indicative of her adherence to Sharia law, which in itself is antithetical to the United States Constitution.”
Her comments were condemned by Fox News leadership, which issued a statement rebuking Pirro.
“We strongly condemn Jeanine Pirro’s comments about Rep. Ilhan Omar,” the network said in a statement days later. “They do not reflect those of the network and we have addressed the matter with her directly.”
“I’ve seen a lot of comments about my opening statement from Saturday night’s show and I did not call Rep. Omar un-American. My intention was to ask a question and start a debate, but of course because one is Muslim does not mean you don’t support the Constitution. I invite Rep. Omar to come on my show any time to discuss all of the important issues facing America today,” Pirro said in response to the controversy.
Omar responded to Fox News’s statement on Monday in a tweet thanking the network for addressing Pirro’s remarks.
“Thank you, @FoxNews. No one’s commitment to our constitution should be questioned because of their faith or country of birth,” she wrote.
