Fox News abruptly cut away from a live report outside the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday after a protester interrupted reporter Peter Doocy to call the Republican tax bill a scam.
“Here’s how confident House Republicans are that they have the votes,” Doocy said as a woman approached the camera.
“The tax bill is a scam,” the woman yelled.
“Excuse me, you can see that obviously there are two protesters here so far,” Doocy said. “We’re just going to swing it over here.”
Doocy attempted to walk away from the woman, who repeated: “the tax bill is a scam.”
Fox News cut the feed and switched to footage of GOP lawmakers at a news conference.
“People with developmental disabilities, the tax bill is a scam that’s going to hurt people,” the woman yelled.
“Peter, we’ve got you, and we’ve got that there’s some things going on there,” said anchor Sandra Smith, back at the studio. “Hopefully we’ll get back to you in just a bit. But this is a historic day.”
