Fox News anchor Shepard Smith called out President Trump on Monday over his “misleading and xenophobic eruption” targeting minority congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), calling it, “Trump’s latest misleading and xenophobic eruption of distraction and division.”
“Our reporting begins this Monday with President Trump’s latest misleading and xenophobic eruption of distraction and division, directed this time at a group of minority women in the United States Congress,” Smith said in his opening monologue on Fox News’s “Shepard Smith Reporting.”
“Go back to where you came from. That’s what the president wrote on Twitter just yesterday, and today he called them haters of America and Jews,” Smith continued, before showing a clip of Trump defending his statements and telling the lawmakers to leave the country if they aren’t happy in the U.S.
“Those tweets targeted these four freshmen congresswoman known as ‘The Squad,” Smith said, listing Reps. Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, Pressley, and Tlaib. “All four women are American citizens. Only Rep. Omar was born out of the United States.”
