ER Doctor Shames Marco Rubio For Jumping The Vaccine Line Ahead Of Doctors, Nurses And Elderly
Doctors and nurses on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic who have yet to receive the newly approved Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have criticized GOP Senator Marco Rubio after he jumped ahead of the line to receive one of the first doses of the vaccine.
As News&Guts points out, all “members of Congress are eligible to get the vaccine, but there are questions today over whether that means all members SHOULD actually receive the shot this early in the distribution process. You can certainly argue that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, third in line for the presidency should get the vaccine. And the same goes for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Both are also over the age of 75, so they also have age as a risk factor. But should young healthy members of Congress receive the vaccines before the majority of healthcare workers and the elderly? That is up for debate after Senator Marco Rubio tweeted that he received the vaccine at the head of the line.”
“I know I looked away from the needle, And yes, I know I need a tan, But I am so confident that the #Covid19 vaccine is safe & effective that I decided to take it myself,” Rubio tweeted on Saturday.
In response to Rubio’s tweet, ER Physician Jeremy Faust MD MS tweeted: “I’m an ER doctor and despite trying, I have not yet been able to be vaccinated.”
He added: “For the record, Marco is 49 years old. Elizabeth Warren (also with pics of getting vaccinated on Twitter) is 71. There’s just a slight difference in risk there, folks.”
For the record, Marco is 49 years old.
Elizabeth Warren (also with pics of getting vaccinated on Twitter) is 71.
There’s just a slight difference in risk there, folks.

Marco Rubio getting the vaccine before my ICU doctor husband and his 102 year old, nursing home dwelling grandmother gets one really chaps my ass.
Fuck you, Republican hypocrite fuckers. https://t.co/l5ETwPfJVd

Young, healthy Senator, who spoke at rallies packed w/thousands w/o masks, who supports Trump -who’s down-played COVID & mocked those who wear masks, is 1st to get vaccine while most medical workers, elderly & infirm Americans, wait.
Congratulations on ur privilege, @marcorubio. pic.twitter.com/gpm3PfNCd4— Ana Navarro-Cárdenas (@ananavarro) December 20, 2020
Earlier today, Rubio tweeted: “People are tired of being told they have to stay home & can’t work or open their business by people who break their own rules and haven’t missed a paycheck.”
Millionaire Marco Rubio is one of the few elites who has been vaccinated & has never missed a paycheck.
He has, however, been blocking direct checks to families, expanded unemployment insurance and aid to Red & Blue states to keep essential workers on the job. https://t.co/WEaXS01Ivo
