Elementary School Employee Confronted After Calling Black Man The N-Word In Front His Children

A Potomac Landing Elementary School employee was confronted on video by a black mom in Maryland after she hurled the N-word at her husband over a parking spot dispute.

Dawn Lennon told ABC affiliate WJLA that she pulled out her cell phone on Monday afternoon at the La Plata Walmart after the employee insulted her husband.

“So while leaving the Walmart parking lot my husband was called The N Word, because he didn’t move out the parking spot the way she wanted him to,” Lennon wrote on the viral video Facebook post. “The thing I thought was so profound is that she was proud of it and didn’t try to deny it.”

“Did you just call my husband the N-word?” Lennon asked the woman.

“Yeah, I did,” the employee confirmed.

The woman has been identified as an employee of Potomac Landing Elementary school and a former teacher and librarian.

Lennon says she was surprised to learn that the woman “teaches children that she would use such language like that” in front of her children.

“I wanted my children to see that you don’t tolerate this kind of racist rhetoric and bigotry. none of this should be tolerated,” Lennon said.

Prince George’s County Public Schools is investigating the incident and they say they are working to “address parent & community concerns.”

“Diversity & tolerance are our core values. we expect all members of the PGCPS community — administrators, faculty, staff & students — to behave in a respectful manner,” a spokesperson said.

“She needs to apologize to the school system, she needs to apologize to those children. She needs to realize what she did and I don’t think she realizes it,” Lennon said.
