Cruz Attacks MSNBC Host Over ‘Space Pirate’ Ridicule: ‘May Space Pirates Devour Your Liver’
Senator Ted Cruz was widely ridiculed this week for arguing that the US military needs to fund President Trump’s proposed “Space Force” in order to prevent space pirates.
“Since the ancient Greeks first put to sea, nations have recognized the necessity of naval forces and maintaining a superior capability to protect waterborne travel and commerce from bad actors,” Cruz, the Republican chairman of the subcommittee on aviation and space, said at a hearing Tuesday.

“Pirates threaten the open seas, and the same is possible in space. In this same way, I believe we too must now recognize the necessity of a Space Force to defend the nation and to protect space commerce and civil space exploration,” Cruz said.
After “Space Pirates” began trending on Twitter, Cruz took to Twitter to swipe at “snarky leftists making fun of my comments”.
Cruz also argued that nations such as China “have already developed & tested weapons to destroy satellites”.
“May Space Pirates devour your liver,” Cruz tweeted after MSNBC host Chris Hayes wrote “This is the saddest tweet I’ve ever seen.”
