The president of Washington State University’s chapter of the College Republicans says that his character has been unfairly tarnished after he was photographed alongside thousands of participants in the white supremacist demonstrations in Charlottesville, VA this past weekend.
James Allsup was identified in the #GoodNightAltRight Twitter campaign, which began circulating photos of suspected white supremacists, neo-Nazi, and Ku Klux Klan members who gathered in Charlottesville to protest the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee from a municipal park.
The “Unite the Right” march turned deadly when a suspected white supremacist drove his car into a crowd of counter-demonstrators, killing a 32-year-old anti-fascist protester and leaving 19 others injured.
Allsup was also identified in a tweet by the vigilante twitter account @YesYoureRacist, who has exposed racism on Twitter since 2012, on Saturday night.

“They have no proof that I’m a racist,” Allsup said. “They are slandering me and that I’m racist without evidence because I talk about history and I talk about American politics.”
Allsup says he identifies as a “paleoconservative” and “right-wing libertarian.”
Cole White, 20, of Berkeley, CA was also exposed by the @YesYoureRacist account and was subsequently fired by the hot dog chain Top Dog on Sunday.
