CNN political director David Chalian blasted President Trump for his Tuesday remarks which appeared to endorse Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore without mentioning him by name.
“We don’t need a liberal Democrat in the seat,” Trump told reporters when asked if he supports Moore, who has been accused of sexual misconduct and assault by women who say he pursued them when they were teenagers.
“The president of the United States would like to see an accused child molester be elected senator from Alabama,” Chalian said.
Trump’s remarks echoed comments made by White House counselor Kellyanne Conway on Monday. Conway said that Alabama voters should support Moore because he will vote for the GOP’s tax-reform legislation.
