Atlanta Protester: ‘Look At The White Girl Trying To Burn Down A Wendy’s. This Wasn’t Us!’
A young white woman was caught on video participating in setting a Wendy’s on fire in Atlanta on Saturday night following a deadly-officer involved shooting 24 hours earlier.
Protesters were out on the streets as early as 7 a.m. Saturday, about eight hours after 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Wendy’s located along University Avenue late Friday night.
The killing of Brooks sparked a new wave of protests in Atlanta, where demonstrations following the May 25 police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis had largely simmered down.
Fox5 Atlanta reporter Alex Whittler shared a video of the Wendy’s just before it was set on fire showing multiple vandals breaking windows and a white woman who appears to be helping set the building on fire.
The video shows the woman lighting what appears to be a small can of hair spray on fire, using it as a blowtorch while holding a bottle of an unknown liquid.
She appears to light the blowtorch again near the front door of the Wendy’s before the video cuts out.
There goes @Wendys on University Ave.
I had to step away for my own safety but here is a look at rioters right before they lit a firework in the Wendy's where #atlantapolice shot and killed #RayshardBrooks @FOX5Atlanta pic.twitter.com/rR0XdDkaBk

In a second video shot from a different angle, the same woman appears to be pouring some type of accelerant into the building from a broken window.
“Look at this white girl look at the white girl trying to set shit on fire,” says a protester filming the unfolding scene from a safe distance. “Look at the white girl trying to burn down a Wendy’s. This wasn’t us. This wasn’t us.”
I had to get this footage cause the media will make it seem like we burned this shit down #AtlantaProtest pic.twitter.com/mGi8kAYqUw

About thirty minutes later, the entire building was engulfed in flames.

It is unclear who else participated in vandalizing and setting the Wendy’s on fire.
