The majority of Americans disapprove of President Trump’s overall job performance in the White House according to a new poll, a figure that comes as fears grow about an economic downturn and recession.
According to newly released poll results by the Associated Press–NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, nearly two out of three Americans surveyed do not approve of the job that President Trump is doing.
Sixty-two percent of Americans said they disapprove of the job Trump is doing, while just 36 percent approve, according to the poll released Thursday.
Just 46 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the economy, based on the poll.
Just 5 percent of Democrats support the president’s overall performance.
Thirty-six percent of Americans approve of Trump’s foreign policy and gun policy, 37 percent approve of his health care policy and just 38 percent approve of his immigration policy.
The poll surveyed 1,058 adults from Aug. 15 to 19. There is a margin of error of 4.2 percentage points.
